The things I do

20 November, 2006 at 3:15 pm (aerosvit, moosh)

I may well have done it this time.

I've just booked my ticket to Moscow, but with a stop off in Kiev. For a laugh. Oh deary dear. I'm not quite sure what I was thinking, especially after last time. But I've done it now and that's that. Trouble and adventure just seem to find me (quite often in equal measures) so when it came to clicking the button to book it, I thought ahhhh what the heck.

I'd never even heard of the airline (Aerosvit) before but saw an advert for them at Brum airport last time I was there in October and made a mental note to remember them. Well done there, brain - you haven't quite given up yet. And before anyone asks, no - I wont be packing my trusty rucksack this time. I'm going to splash out on a smashing new suitcase. Possibly a bright pink one. Surely they wont loose that?

I've already been asked this morning if I'll be travelling alone or not - and replied of course! It never fails to amaze me the amount of people who are afraid of travelling to foreign countries alone. I've almost always had more fun that way and met loads of interesting people. Take Chakib for instance - I met him on the underground in Berlin and he showed me round parts of the city I would never have gone to as they wern't in my Lonely Planet guide. We also met up with a load of his friends and had the most amazing meal in a little cafe really off the beaten track and it only cost a couple of quid. Bargain. He actually proved to be quite useful, as a few years back I was planning on going on a last minute trip to Morocco (his home country) and emailed him to tell him of my plans and he told me "Don't go to Casablanca!" It was only a couple of weeks later when the news came on telling me that a load of bombs had gone off there that I realised just how helpful his advice was *cough*.

So there you have it. Go abroad - meet interesting people :D
